Redoute botanical print of a tulip
The vintage lithographic print of a Tulipa Culta is an original print taken from a book of full colour illustrations and is not a modern copy. It is a wonderful image in great condition with stunning detail and colouring. It is a reproduction from a painting by P J Redoute. The image is of a single tulip in shades of purple and gold.
Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759 – 1840), was a painter and botanist from Belgium, known for his watercolours of roses, lilies and other flowers and has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of his time.
This image would have come from a book of prints, and the left edge is slightly rough were it has been removed from the book binding. Condition is good and the image is bright and clear and printed on good quality paper. The print measures 26.5 cm by 34 cm.
The picture will be rolled and posted in a tube.
