Vintage botanical printed lithograph of a honeysuckle
The vintage lithographic print of a Lonicera or Honeysuckle is an original print taken from a book of full colour illustrations and is not a modern copy. It is a wonderful image in great condition with stunning detail and colouring. It is a reproduction from a painting by P J Redoute.
The image is of a cutting of the Honeysuckle with the flower head in its classical colours of light and deep pink with highlights of yellow, plus deep green foliage.
Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759 – 1840), was a painter and botanist from Belgium, known for his watercolours of roses, lilies and other flowers and has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of all time. His pictures have been reproduced in many garden and art books.
This image would have come from a book of prints, and the left edge is slightly rough were it has been removed from the book binding. Condition is good and the image is bright and clear and printed on good quality paper. The print measures 26.5 cm by 34 cm.
It would look fantastic mounted and framed and would display well in numerous rooms. It would also look stunning displayed with other lithographic prints. Makes a beautiful gift for an anniversary, birthday, thank you or house warming.
The print will be rolled an posted in a tube.
