Vintage red and blue biscuit tin with original paper labels by William Crawford & Son
A fabulous vintage William Crawford's Delightful biscuits tin with original paper labels. According to the end and underneath labels this tin originally contained ginger nuts. While a little tatty it is fantastic to have the original labels dating from around the 1920s. They are a vibrant red colour with a floral border in blue. The lid is a little stiff but can be removed to reveal a marked interior.
The firm of William Crawford and Sons started in 1813 as a family bakery business in Edinburgh but expanded in the late 19th and early 20th century to Liverpool and London. Crawford biscuits are still produced to this day through United Biscuits.
A great tin perfect to display, for use as an indoor planter, or for storing bits and bobs, haberdashery items or actual biscuits! It measures 18 cm long by 9 cm wide and 8 cm high. This tin is in vintage condition and shows plenty of signs of use and wear, with worn labels, marks and scratches and some rust both inside and out.
